What time do lights go off in a train?
After 10 PM the main lights go off and only the night lamp stays on.
The rule
You are entitled to ask a co-passenger to switch off a reading light after 10 PM, and the TTE will back you. The same applies to phone calls on speaker and loud conversation.
Other rules at this stage
A separate set of rules applies at night, and most of them are in your favour.
The TTE should not wake you after 10 PM
Once you are settled on a confirmed berth, ticket checking should not disturb you between 10 PM and 6 AM.
No loud music or calls after 10 PM
Loud conversation, speakerphone calls and card games after 10 PM are against the rules, not merely impolite.
₹1,000
Bedding in AC classes
AC classes include bedding in the fare: two sheets, a blanket, a pillow and a towel per passenger.
